Allium Senescens

Allium Senescens is also known as German Garlic or Broadleaf Chives is part of the Alliaceae family of plants. It is a bulb that produces pinkish purple flowers in the summer. It grows to 50 m.  tall. The flowers are hermaphrodite. The flowers, leaves and roots are edible. They are easy to grow and prefer sun but are ok with partial shade as well. Plant them in well-drained soil.

Allium Senescens  is deer resistant and attracts butterflies. It is drought resistant or tolerant. Plant them in borders for added interest the flowers look like balls as they bloom in clusters.
