Deutzia rosea ‘Yuki Cherry Blossom’ is a compact shrub from the Hydrangeaceae family of plants. As the family name suggests it is related to Hydrangea. Deutzia is native to Japan in the Kanto region as well as China. You can find over 50 species of Deutzia in China. Naturally, it grows along edges of forests and rocky areas. It is deciduous and the leaves in autumn could turn to almost burgundy color before falling. Deutzia Rosea produces panicles of flowers with pinkish-white inside and pink outside. Plant it in full sun or partial shade in a fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Yuki Cherry Blossom is a hybrid, a compact shrub, a rather low-maintenance plant. It flowers in late spring and early summer.
Deutzia rosea ‘Yuki Cherry Blossom’ is a hardy plant. It does not require pruning except if you want to shape it. The flowers appear on the old wood so pruning would not have any benefit except for making it bushier. Propagate by softwood cuttings in summer. It is pest and disease-free.
