Yucca filamentosa

Yucca filamentosa is an evergreen shrub commonly known as Adam’s Needle, Common Yucca, Needle Palm, Carolina Silk Grass, Our Lord’s Candle, Spanish Bayonet, Spoon-Leaf Yucca, Bear-Grass, or Needle-Palm Silk. It belongs to the Asparagaceae family of plants. It is native to Southeastern USA.

Yucca filamentosa flowers with upright spikes with panicles of creamy white flowers. The flowers are bell-shaped and appear mid to late summer. Remove spent flowering stems after flowering is done. Yucca filamentosa leaves are sword-shaped and form a clump about 3ft or 90cm tall and when it flowers with stalk the height would be up to 8ft or 240cm. It is easy to grow. Plant it in a well-drained with dry to medium moisture. It needs full sun. It is drought tolerant. It is pest-free and disease-free and deer and rabbit resistant as well. Propagate Yucca filamentosa by seed or suckers.
