Penstemon 'Rich Ruby'
Penstemon ‘Rich Ruby’ is part of the Plantaginaceae family of plants. It is a semi-evergreen perennial. It flowers from mid-summer into autumn.
They also call it the Beard Tongue, or Beardtongue ‘Rich Ruby’. Penstemon ‘Rich Ruby‘ grows to about 3ft or 90cm tall. The foliage is green and narrow and grows from purplish stems. The flowers are bell-shaped and deep red.

Deadhead the flowers for more flowers. Watch out for downy mildew, slugs, snails, and eelworms. It is drought tolerant. Penstemon ‘Rich Ruby’ attracts butterflies and hummingbirds, but it is resistant to deers and rabbits.
