Aster Novae-angliae – Purple Cloud or Symphyotrichum Novae-angliae – Purple Cloud or New England Aster is a member of the Asteraceae family of plants. A deciduous perennial that flowers in summer and fall with purple flowers with yellow centers. It can grow tall up to 1 meters so it might need staking. Plant it in the sun or partial shade and in fertile, moist and well-drained soil. Propagate by division but not too often every few years. You can prune it back in late autumn and also you can pinch it when it is growing in spring to make it more bushy.
