
Senecio Cineraria -Silver Dust
Senecio cineraria ‘Silver Dust’ or Silver Ragwort is from the Asteraceae family of plants. They also call it Ragwort cineraria ‘Silver Dust’, Senecio maritimus, Senecio candicans, Cineraria maritima, Jacobaea maritima, or Senecio cineraria. It is a tender perennial shrub. They usually grow it as an annual in gardens. It is native to the Mediterranean region.
Senecio cineraria ‘Silver Dust’ has silvery foliage which is a very nice contrast to the other plants and flowers. The young leaves are slightly lobed when young. But they get deeply intricate as they grow. The leaves are felt-like. It flowers in the summer with yellow daisy-like flowers.
Grow it in full sun. Plant it in moist but well-drained soil. It grows to about a height of 50 cm. It is drought-tolerant. Propagate it from seed. It is not toxic but it also does not have any known value to wildlife.
