It is a low maintenance plant and it grows in shade or semi-shade locations. It thrives in moist, well-drained, organically reach the soil and the fact that it does well in shade makes for a great ground cover or for borders. The leaves are evergreen but not in very cold climates. You can propagate Bergenia crassifolia from seeds or by dividing them.
