Bergenia crassifolia

You can’t beat the brightness Bergenia crassifolia flowers bring to any landscaping project. Beautiful bright green flower and sharp magenta pink blossoms. This plant is a perennial and it is from the genus Bergenia and is native to North China to Siberia. This plant is also known as Elephant Ears, Winter Blooming Bergenia, Leather Bergenia, Heartleaf Bergenia or Pigsqueak. It grows to about 1.5 feet and blooms in April, May. It is a low maintenance plant and it grows in shade or semi-shade locations. It thrives in moist, well-drained, organically reach the soil and the fact that it does well in shade makes for a great ground cover or for borders. The leaves are evergreen but not in very cold climates. You can propagate Bergenia crassifolia from seeds or by dividing them.
