Senecio elegans

Senecio elegans or Purple Ragwort is also known as, Red-Purple Ragwort, Purple Groundsel, Jacoby, Purple Jacobea, Life Seed or Seed of Life, Wild Cineraria. It is part of the Asteraceae family of plants. It is native to South Africa. This is an annual that can grow up to 60cm or 22in.

Senecio elegans flowers in from late spring to early autumn. It attracts bees and butterflies. Flowers appear on the top of stems and have bright yellow centers just like daisies. Plant them in full sun or partial shade in sandy, moist but well-drained soil. Propagate by seeds. The seeds germinate in a week. It is an easy grower.
