Convolvulaceae is also known as the Morning Glory Family. It is from the order of Solanales. This family includes about 67 genera and and and about 1,296 species.

The members of Convolvulaceae are mostly herbaceous vines, but there include trees and shrubs. Probably one of the better-known members is the sweet potato which has a starchy root, and it is consumed all over the world. And of course, Morning Glory is a well-known garden plant. The members of this family are both tropical and from temperate regions.

A most prominent feature of the members of the Convolvulaceae family is the funnel-shaped flowers. They are radially symmetrical corollas. Most members have five sepals and five fused petals. Convolvulaceae family member stamens are fused to the petals or epipetalous. They have winding stems as the name suggests in Latin convolvere. They usually contain latex. The roost is usually fibrous but sometimes tubers. The foliage is simple and alternate. No stipules present. The fruit is usually a capsule, berry, or a nut. And they usually contain about two seeds. Seeds of the Convolvulaceae species are used for medicinal properties. Some contain ergoline alkaloids. And some are sources for hallucinogenic drugs.
