Antirrhinum or Snapdragons come in varieties of colors and sizes ranging from 4″ to 3ft. Snapdragons are perennials but usually grown as annuals.
They like the sun and are at their best in spring and summer. Antirrhinum flowers have 5 lobes, and when you pinch the side it looks like a dragon opening its jaw. You can grow Snapdragons from seed in summer to early spring. Rust is the most serious problem, so try growing rust-resistant varieties of Snapdragons.
Snapdragons make good cut flowers and you will find them in many flower arrangements. They look beautiful with delphiniums and irises.
