Morcote is a village about 10 kilometers south of Lugano. The village has a beautiful arcade by the water, a church up on the hill, and of course the beautiful Scherrer Gardens.
The park was left to Morcote municipality in 1965 by Scherrer family with the request to make it a public park. It was created by Hermann Arthur Scherrer. (1881-1956) You can visit a series of beautiful gardens with artwork and sculptures and of course vistas of the lake.

The gardens are different levels creating an exciting walk with surprises. You will find replicas of Erechtheus, the second temple in the Athens Acropolis. Also, an Indian resembles Palazzo Salò at Bruigne near Padova, an Egyptian Temple dedicated to Nefertiti, and at the entrance a Ticino-Lombard house. The botanical garden displays a variety of plants, trees, and flowers, such as Camelias and Wisteria, Eucalyptus trees, and more.
