If you ever visit Cornwall, don’t miss visiting Trewyn Studios, now Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, in St Ives. Dame Jocelyn Barbara Hepworth (1903-1975) is one of the leading 20th century, English modernist artists and sculptors. She and her family went to live in St Ives in 1939. She had triplets with Ben Nicholson.

She wished that her Trewyn Studios become a museum so it was gifted to the nation and place in the care of Tate Gallery. Many of the sculptures in the garden are still in positions where she placed them originally.
It is a lovely garden developed over the years she placed some of her sculptures. She loved having them around and claimed they changed with the light. She remained there all her life and died in a small fire at the location. She said everything I make is to touch and people do.
Beautiful plants and paths guide you through the garden where you can view all the magnificent sculptures.

I am a flower enthusiast and a gardener at heart. Ever since childhood I loved reading about plants and started gardening at an early age. First by helping my father in the garden and later managing a large garden myself in my teen years. I planted and cared for a large number of plants, flowers, and trees both outdoors and in a greenhouse. To this day I enjoy visiting gardens and parks and learning about new and old specimens and varieties of plants.
