Helianthemum apenninum

Helianthemum apenninum or the White Rock-rose or Apennine Sun Rose is from the Cistaceae family of plants. It is native to Western Europe. It is an evergreen shrub that is very hardy. It produces white flowers in the spring and summer from March onwards. It can grow up to 50cm or 20in. The white flowers are about 3cm. and have bright yellow centers. The flowers grow in clusters of a few. It has lance-shaped leaves that are grayish-green.

Helianthemum apenninum once established is drought tolerant. It is a slow-growing ground cover. Plant it in the sun in well-drained soil. It will tolerate dry chalky soils. It is a good plant for containers as well.
