Nemesia ‘Bluebird’

Nemesia ‘Bluebird’ is also known as Nemesia ‘Fleurie Bluebird’, Aloha ‘Fleurie Bluebird’, Nemesia ‘Blue Bird’, or Nemesia ‘Fleurie Blue’. It is part of the Scrophulariaceae family of plants, Nemesia is originally from South Africa. It is a deciduous herbaceous perennial. It has clove-scented fragrant flowers, which are two-lipped, purplish-blue, or violet in color with yellow centers. Nemesia ‘Bluebird’ flowers in spring and summer depending on the climate maybe even into autumn. It grows to about 50cm or 20in.

Plant Nemesia ‘Bluebird’ in the sun in moist and fertile soil. Keep it in a humid environment as it does not flower in dry weather. You can pinch the tips to make it even bushier. Propagate Nemesia ‘Bluebird’ by softwood cuttings from the non-flowering shoots in summer or spring. By trimming the flowering shoots when the first round of flowering is done you can promote more flowers. It attracts bees and butterflies.
