Glory Bush or Tibouchina lepidota

Tibouchina lepidota or Glory Bush is a beautiful tropical bush that needs full to partial sun and regular watering. It is also known as Alstonville, Andean Princess Flower, Lasiandra.

Tibouchina lepidota is native to South America. It belongs to the Melastomataceae family of plants. The flowers are purple. They are about 2.5″ or 6cm wide. It is an evergreen plant. It has dark green leaves. It produces brownish colored fruit following the flowers. Tibouchina lepidota attracts butterflies.

Tibouchina lepidota flowers in summer to fall. In warmer climates, it can flower all year round. Tibouchina lepidota grows from 10 to 12 feet or 3m to 3.5m high.
