Viburnum macrocephalum ‘Sterile’ is a semi-evergreen shrub. It is part of the Adoxaceae family of plants. They also call it Chinese Snowball, Hydrangea Viburnum, Tree Hydrangea. It is native to China.

In China, it is called 繡球莢蒾 or 木繡球. The foliage is dark green and elliptic and serrated on the edges. It flowers in late spring and early summer. The flowers grow in globose clusters about 20cm or 8in wide. They are white and sterile, but they start as green, and then they turn white.

Grow Viburnum macrocephalum ‘Sterile’ in the sun or partial shade. Plant it in moist, fertile but well-drained soil. It attracts butterflies but it is resistant to deer.
