Verbena rigida is native to Brazil and Argentina. It is part of the Verbenaceae family of plants. It is a herbaceous, tuberous perennial. They also grow it from seed as an annual as it is not fully hardy. Verbena rigida can grow to 24in or 60cm tall.
They also call it Verbena venosa, Verbena scaberrima, and commonly, Slender Vervain, Hardy Garden Verbena, Tuberous Vervain, Large Veined Verbena, or Veined Verbena.
Verbena rigida has oblong, toothed leaves that are without stalks. It flowers in late summer. The flowers grow in clusters. They are purple and grow on branched stems. Verbena rigida flowers are fragrant.

Grow Verbena rigida in the sun. Plant it in moist but well-drained soil. Propagate it by seed or from tip cuttings. Watch out for slugs, snails, leafhoppers, aphids or powdery mildews.
