Rubiaceae

Rubiaceae is also known as the Madder Family, Bedstraw Family of Coffee Family of plants. It is from the order of Gentianales. It includes trees, shrubs, herbs, and lianas. The Rubiaceae family has about 617 genera and about 13,548 species. It is diversely distributed however most of the members are concentrated in tropics and sub-tropics. Some of the better-known members include Coffee, Cinchona which quinine is derived from, and Gardenia and Penta which are popular garden plants.

Members of the Rubiaceae family usually have opposite leaves that are simple. They have interpetiolar stipules, actinomorphic corollas, and inferior ovaries.
