
Acer capillipes or Kyusho Maple or Red Snakebark Maple at Kew Garden in London
Acer capillipes are also known as Red Snake-Bark Maple, Kyushu Maple, or Snake-Bark Maple. It is from the Sapindaceae family of plants. Acer capillipes is a deciduous tree native to Japan. It has 3 to 5-lobed leaves that turn to beautiful yellow and red colors in the autumn. It can be single or multi-trunked. The bark is smooth and olive-green with tiny vertical white stripes.

Acer capillipes flowers are light yellowish-green. They grow in drooping racemes in spring. It has male and female flowers in different racemes. In autumn they turn into pink fruits. It grows from 8 to 12m or 26 to 39ft. Acer capillipes is not a very fast grower as it takes 20 to 50 years to reach their maximum height.
How to Grow Acer capillipes:
Grow Acer capillipes in the sun or partial shade.Plant it in moist but well-drained soil. Propagate from seed or grafting. Watch out for aphids and horse chestnut scale as well as verticillium.
