Tulipa sylvestris is a wild tulip native to Eurasia and North Africa. It is part of the Liliaceae family of plants. It is a bulbous perennial. It grows to about 50cm or 20in tall. They also call it the Wild Tulip, Woodland Tulip, Botanical Tulip, Rock Garden Tulip, or Florentine Tulip. Tulipa sylvestris flowers in mid-spring.
This tulip will spread and come back each year. It has bluish-gray leaves and bright yellow flowers. It usually has one or two flowers per each stem.
How to grow Tulipa sylvestris:
Grow it in the sun. It is better than shade, but if you have to light shade will be ok. Plant it in humus-rich, fertile, moist, and well-drained soil. Plant it in autumn. It propagates by spreading, it rarely produces seed.
